Pick a Craft Anything release
GitHub Releases is the only download location this Craft Anything guide uses. The latest tag is the default. Older tags are how you roll back. This site does not copy the file list, because a copied list goes stale.
Not affiliated with the ArtCraft team or the Craft Anything maintainers. We do not host installers. Downloads go to GitHub Releases. Use the software only on targets you are allowed to examine.
Default files
For a current desktop install, prefer the Windows x64 MSI, the Linux x86_64 AppImage, or the macOS universal disk image. The version number sits in the filename. Portable Windows zips, deb and rpm packages, Flatpak, tarballs, ARM builds, FreeBSD tarballs, and the browser zip are on the same release when you need a different package. The browser zip is a file viewer that runs in the browser and does not replace the desktop app. After version 0.2.0 the desktop app includes the command-line tool; the macOS CLI zip is optional.
- Windows x64: craft-anything-<version>-windows-x64.msi
- Linux x86_64: craft-anything-<version>-linux-x86_64.AppImage
- macOS: craft-anything-<version>-macos-universal.dmg
- Checksums: SHA256SUMS.txt on that release
Latest, and rolling back
The home page buttons follow GitHub’s latest release. When you need an older build, open the releases list and select that tag’s Assets. Do not keep using a file whose checksum does not match SHA256SUMS.txt. Release notes on the tag are the record of what changed; this guide does not restate every note.
Alpha
Public installers exist and are still alpha. The project’s STATUS and ROADMAP documents say what is verified. If a button on this site and the release page disagree, trust the release page.
This site is not official. We do not host installers. Downloads go to GitHub Releases for storytold/craft-anything. Examine only software you own or are allowed to examine.
How to read an asset name
The pattern is craft-anything, then a version, then the platform. windows-x64.msi is the default PC installer. windows-arm64 and windows-x86 exist for those CPUs. A portable zip uses the same CPU token. linux-x86_64.AppImage is the default Linux and Steam Deck desktop file; aarch64 and riscv variants are labeled in the name. macos-universal.dmg is both Mac CPUs. SHA256SUMS.txt is not an installer. The browser zip is a viewer. After you match the name, compare the checksum. Craft Anything tags stay on GitHub even when this guide’s buttons follow “latest.” Rolling back means picking an older tag’s Assets, not hunting a mirror.
What a tag does not include
A release does not include Claude Code, Ghidra, firmware, ROM dumps, or a coding-agent account. It does not include sample commercial games. It does not include this website. Optional packages on the same tag — deb, rpm, Flatpak, FreeBSD tarball, CLI zip — are alternatives, not extra features of the engine. If you need one of those, download it from the same tag as the app you already trust. Mixing an old CLI with a new desktop build is a good way to confuse doctor; keep them on one tag when you can.
Checksums, pre-releases, and stale buttons
SHA256SUMS.txt is a text file on the same tag as the binaries. Hash the file you saved and compare. A GitHub pre-release is still a GitHub file; this guide’s home buttons follow the latest stable-style latest endpoint GitHub exposes. If a button 404s, the asset name changed: open Assets and match windows-x64.msi, linux-x86_64.AppImage, or macos-universal.dmg by pattern, not by an old filename you memorized. Do not use a third-party “repack.” Do not use a Discord attachment. Older tags remain listed so you can roll back after a bad alpha day. Read the tag’s notes for breaking CLI flags. The browser zip still does not replace the desktop loop. FreeBSD and RISC-V users pick those tarballs from Assets; this site’s picker does not highlight them because they are not the default three. After you have a matching file, return to the install page for your OS rather than running an unmarked download from the browser’s mystery folder.
FAQ
- Why not list every version here?
- A copied catalog drifts within days. The GitHub release page is the live list, including older tags for rollback.
- What is the web zip?
- A browser build that describes a file locally. It is not the Windows, Linux, or macOS app.
- Is the Craft Anything download hosted on craftanything.online?
- No. The button is a link to GitHub.
- Should I always take latest?
- Yes for a first install, unless a release note says a tag is broken for your OS. Then pick the previous working tag from the GitHub list, verify SHA256SUMS.txt, and keep the desktop app and CLI on that same tag so doctor does not mix binaries. ARM, RISC-V, FreeBSD, deb, rpm, and Flatpak files stay on that tag’s Assets list even when this site’s picker only highlights three defaults.
