Craft Anything Clean room vs Deep
These are Craft Anything inspection modes, not two installers. You can switch in the title bar, in Settings, or for one command-line run. Clean room is the default.
Not affiliated with the ArtCraft team or the Craft Anything maintainers. We do not host installers. Downloads go to GitHub Releases. Use the software only on targets you are allowed to examine.
Use Clean room when
You want the default. Clean room does not read the original’s code, files, or page source. It works from what a person can see: images you add, the site as a visitor sees it, and — if you allow it — a picture of a window. Tools that would look inside are refused, and the refusal says how to turn Deep on. Pick this when you are recreating something from the outside, or when you are not sure you may read the inside.
- Default for new sessions
- Refuses tools that open the original’s internals
- Same app and the same project folder as Deep
Use Deep when
You are allowed to inspect that software’s internals, and the outside view is not enough. Deep uses the built-in engines, and Ghidra if you have installed it. It can read a program’s code and files, and it can read a site’s scripts. The project describes this as private use. It also states that Craft Anything does not bypass DRM, logins, or anti-cheat. This page does not add steps for defeating those controls. If you do not have permission, stay on Clean room.
- Title bar, Settings, or settings_set deep_mode true
- One CLI run: --deep, or --clean-room to force the default
- “Just look inside” is a Deep-mode question flow and does not have to build a project
What neither mode does
Clean room is a rule about which tools Craft Anything offers. It is not an operating-system sandbox, and it does not isolate the coding agent. The agent still acts as you. Simple and Advanced are a separate choice: they are two windows on the same engine, and either window can be in either mode. Switching mode does not download a second installer.
This site is not official. We do not host installers. Downloads go to GitHub Releases for storytold/craft-anything. Examine only software you own or are allowed to examine.
When to stay on Clean room
Stay on Clean room for a first session, for a public website you only know as a visitor, and for any target whose license or terms you have not read. Recreating a layout from screenshots and from what you can see in a browser is the Clean room job. If a tool is refused, read the message; it is telling you the next switch, not that Craft Anything crashed. Teams that want a rebuild without ingesting source should leave the default on for the whole project. You can still Study, Build, Check, and Ready. Build still needs a coding agent. The mode only changes how much of the original the study tools may open.
When Deep is actually warranted
Deep is for a program or site you are allowed to inspect internally, when the outside view is not enough to answer the question. That can mean your own app, a target with permission in writing, or software whose license allows this kind of reading. Deep can use bundled engines and Ghidra if you installed Ghidra yourself. It can read code, files, and scripts. It still does not defeat DRM, logins, or anti-cheat. This guide will not add those steps. CLI users pass --deep for one run or --clean-room to force the default. Settings persist until you change them. “Just look inside” is Deep and does not have to create a project. Switching modes mid-project does not migrate captures or rewrite craft.json by itself; it changes which tools the next Study step may call. If a teammate needs the default, say so before they open Advanced and flip the title-bar switch. Neither mode is a legal opinion. If you do not have rights, stop. If you do, Deep still will not copy logos or photos unless you confirm you may. The agent remains your logged-in tool either way, so treat its file writes as your own.
FAQ
- Do I install Clean room and Deep separately?
- No. One app, one switch.
- Will Deep remove DRM or a login?
- No. The project says it does not bypass DRM, logins, or anti-cheat. This guide will not describe how to try.
- Which mode should a first Craft Anything project use?
- Clean room, until you know you are allowed to inspect the target internally and you actually need to.
- Does Deep install extra binaries from this site?
- No. One app. Optional tools such as Ghidra are yours to install from their vendors, not from craftanything.online. Switching the title-bar control is enough.
